Caribbean Food – A Caribbean Meal Kit is now available in the UK

Jamaican company Grace Foods has launched a Caribbean meal kit at Tesco, a British multinational grocery and general merchandise company headquartered in Welwyn Garden City, England. It is the third largest retailer in the world as measured by gross revenue and the ninth in the world by revenue.
The range of Irie Eats meal kits includes a side of microwaveable rice and peas. Prices range between £ 1.75 and £ 3.50 / 250g-515g. Others are:
- Irie Eats Spicy Jerk Wrap Kit (RRP £ 3.50, 460g) – Kit includes: x8 soft flour wraps, x1 sachet of Jerk Dough and x1 sachet of Jerk Seasoning.
- Irie Eats Crunchy Jerk Wrap Kit (RRP £ 3.50, 515g) – Kit includes: x8 soft flour wraps, x1 sachet of Jerk barbecue sauce and x1 sachet of Crunchy Jerk coating.
- Irie Eats Spicy Jerk Meal Kit (RRP £ 3.50, 390g) – Kit includes: x1 packet of microwave rice and peas, x1 packet of Jerk Paste and x1 packet of Jerk Seasoning.
- Irie Eats Caribbean Curry Meal Kit (RRP £ 3.50, 380g) – Kit includes: x1 packet of microwave rice and peas, x1 packet of Caribbean Curry Sauce, and x1 packet of Meal Mix ‘herbs and coconut.
All of the products, according to Grace, are suitable for vegans and anyone can follow a simple five-step process to get the kits ready for serving.
Grace Foods cited Mintel data from 2021, which found that almost half or 49% of Britons said they would like to try Caribbean cuisine at home.
“This is an important and exciting opportunity for us to present authentic, traditional and flavorful Caribbean meal solutions to a new consumer audience,” said Giuseppe Vullo, Brand Manager, Grace Foods. “We are delighted to continue bringing Caribbean cuisine to the UK market, offering a delicious and easy-to-use range inspired by classic island dishes. “
Irie Eats is available from August 11 exclusively in Tesco stores nationwide with wider distribution from December.
