The building once housed the Mexican restaurant Cocina 1022, which closed in February 2019. Prior to that, it had long housed the French restaurant Chez Jacques, which closed in October 2016.

City records indicate that Nadine Dixon is the sole owner of the planned restaurant. Dixon is a resident of Milwaukee who indicates her birthplace is Jamaica. We contacted Dixon for more information on his business plan.
