The Kamloops Caribbean Food and Music Festival returns to Riverside Park on Saturday

Jeremy Rodney of the Caribbean Cultural Society in Kamloops worked feverishly to get everything organized in a short time.

“It’s very exciting. The only thing is it’s just a mad rush with the delay in getting the mandates out and getting people back. It’s caused a late start to the planning process and because of that, everything “It’s now rushed. We’re running around to get it all to make sure it’s a fabulous event that everyone in Kamloops loves and remembers,” Rodney said.

Plans are already underway to possibly expand the festival into 2023. But, before that, the star of Saturday’s festival will be a tight competition between the various musical acts, the long list of fun events and, of course, the authentic Caribbean. . kitchen.

“You can come and enjoy our jerk chicken, our jerk pork, our lamb curry, because a lot of people don’t like goat curry,” Dane Sanguinetti joked. “Come on, the flavor will be there, the taste, the smell, the whole feel, like you’re really in the Caribbean.”

Throughout the day, various events will take place including jerk chicken eating contests and more for the whole family to enjoy.

There will also be a beer garden offering Jamaican rum punch.
